About Us

Dr. Todd Gunderson hails from Northwestern Iowa (Lake Park, Iowa). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Iowa State University in 1997 and his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2001 from the Indiana University School of Optometry. After practicing with an ophthalmology/optometry group practice in Marion, Illinois for five years, Dr. Todd relocated to Jasper, Indiana, and started Gunderson Eyecare with his wife, Dr. Kim, in July, 2006.

Dr. Todd practices full scope optometry and has a special interest in eye care for children, dry eye management, innovative contact lens care, and medical eye care. He is an active member of the Indiana Optometric Association as well as the American Optometric Association. He served as an examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry grading the competency of optometry students as they become Doctors of Optometry.  Dr. Todd is a Past-President of the Jasper Lions Club and a Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master and enjoys being active in community events especially the Jasper Band Parents.

When I’m not practicing optometry, I enjoy outdoor activities with our three sons: Quinn, Cole and Graham as well as exploring the local area with my family and friends.

Dr. Kim has served as an examiner for the National Board of Examiners of Optometry which grades the competence of those optometrists wishing to become certified to practice optometry in the United States.  She feels “It both a privilege and a joy to serve the community, friends, and neighbors where I was raised.”  Dr. Kim currently serves on the board of directors for the Dubois County Community Foundation, is the current Jasper Wildcat Band Parent President, is a member of the Jasper Lions Club, is a Past President of Ireland Elementary PTO, and a past board member for the Jasper Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.  “Outside of the office, Todd and I love to support our boys in their activities (we are active band parent supporters) and to travel.

Mary has been with Gunderson Eyecare since February of 2007.  She is a specialist in patient and insurance accounts.  She works hard using her knowledge and experience to help patients get the most of their vision benefits. Although Operations Manager and Chief Insurance Advocate is  Mary’s job title, don’t be surprised to see her jumping in any area of the office. Mary is very capable and trained to fulfill any role in the office.

My husband, Jeff and I live in Ferdinand.  We have two grown daughters, Samantha (husband Nick) and Jordan (husband Seth). I also have one granddaughter Eleanor. I love spending time with my granddaughter and I also enjoy cooking, reading, doing crafts and spending time with family and friends.

Joining the practice in 2010, Stacy’s voice is most likely the first you will hear on the phone. She welcomes you to the office and will assist you with any questions or needs you may have. With a degree in education, Stacy excels in communicating with each patient on a personal level. She makes it her first priority to meet the individual needs of each patient.

“My husband, Phil, and I live in Ireland. We have 2 grown daughters, Jessica (husband Paul) and Marissa (husband, Gibson). I enjoy time traveling, flower gardening, walking and doing volunteer work.” 

With an associate degree in Optometric Technology from Indiana University and years of experience in eye care, Sandy became an integral part of our team in 2011. She brings with her a vast knowledge of eyeglass lenses and frames. She looks forward to assisting patients with their eyewear selections to ensure they get optimal style and vision out of their glasses and contact lenses.

“My husband, Andy, and I live in Huntingburg. We have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. I enjoy putting together puzzles, watching movies, traveling and spending time with family.”

It is with exuberance and dedication that Angie meets the role of Inventory Coordinator. Joining us in June of 2012, her sense of style and fashion bring a unique flair to the eyewear selection process.

It is easy to look to her to know the latest trends or colors. She is always happy to offer an opinion on style or just a friendly smile and welcoming words. She insists on trying most styles and lines herself to ensure the best quality and style for our patients. Angie enjoys teaching new contacts lens wearers, and working with them.

“I am a lifelong resident of Jasper and Ireland. I am married to David and have two grown children, Chase (and wife, Kathryn)and Sagan (and her husband Mick). I previously worked for 23 years in OB/GYN. I so enjoy working with the doctors and staff at Gunderson Eyecare. I would love for you to stop by and let me show you our frame selection.”

Blakney will often be the first person you meet when you walk into the office at Gunderson Eyecare. She will welcome you and gather the necessary information to begin any appointment in our office. Her degree in Administrative Office Technology has given Blakney both the skill and knowledge to maintain accurate information and records as well as be a liaison with insurance companies for patients.

My husband, Jacob, and I live in Celestine. We love volunteering in our community and spending lots of our time with family and friends. We are enjoying making memories with our first child we welcomed in August 2022. . In my spare time, I enjoy taking long walks, cooking & gardening.

Hailey joined the Gunderson Eyecare Team in 2020.  Growing up in the eyecare industry, her knowledge and experience allow her to do preliminary and advanced testing to aid in both your vision testing and ocular health assessment.

As a graduate of Springs Valley High school, Hailey stays involved with the community and high school by helping with the girls’ softball program and supporting other athletic teams.

In my spare time I enjoy golfing with my boyfriend, Nolan, and spending time outdoors with our two dogs, Beau and Sadie.

A native of Ireland, Indiana, Heather has returned “home” ,and joins the Gunderson Eyecare team after living in Indianapolis. Her degree from the University of Indianapolis in Human Resource Management makes her the perfect fit to fill the role of HR Director and Empowerment Coach. 

Her vast experience in customer service, retail, and vendor management allows her to successfully use her talents as an Eyewear Stylist.

In her spare time, Heather likes to use her creativity for quilt making and portrait photography. She also enjoys helping in the garden at the family farm, and spending time with her husband, Adam and sons, Liam and Owen.

Trenton is a natural fit for Gunderson Eyecare.  His commitment to continually expand his skills and attention to detail make him an excellent member of the clinical team.    He assists the doctors with preliminary and advanced testing to allow optimal visual results and the most accurate ocular health assessment.

Trent currently lives in Winslow. He enjoys spending time with family, friends and his dogs, Ozzy and Roxi. He also enjoys watching movies, taking frequent trips to Tennessee, and listening to music.

As an optometric technician, Cali communicates any visual or ocular health concerns you may have to the doctors as well as performs preliminary and advanced testing to aid in both your vision testing and ocular health assessment.  Cali’s infectious smile and hands on approach make her a great fit to assist in the examination process.

Cali was born and raised in Jasper. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her Mini Berne doodle, Nala, and spending time with friends and family. She is also an early riser and enjoys waking up early for 5 a.m. masters swim practice.

Katie and her husband, Isaac, have lived in Jasper for almost 10 years now. We enjoy traveling, going to concerts and watching movies. We also love spending time with our pets Dottie, Judge and Hoosier. Katie enjoys providing individual attention to help patients select their new eyewear.

Max grew up in Jasper and attended college at IUPUI where he obtained a Bachelor degree in Health Sciences. He enjoys being with family, friends and his two dogs Axel and Rueger. In his free time he enjoys playing golf and being outdoors.
